Campfire

We had our first campfire of the year. Earlier in the week, my son had dug a pit out in the back yard for burning the tumbleweeds that we seem to gather so quickly. I remember seeing my first tumbleweeds when we moved here in January thinking how nice they look rolling across the yard. Now, ask me what I think of them. They seem to love our yard and when you go to pick them up you must do it gingerly or you get poked! It hurts. They aren't as quaint as I thought they first were.

My son has been looking forward to the campfire. It was fun taking the wire coat hangers, unbending them, and putting sausages on them to roast over the fire. I think he was looking more forward to the marshmellows more than the sausages. Then again... he ate 3 sausages and I quit counting how many smores he made. He just had fun!

It was nice to sit out under the open skies and cooking over the open fire. The stars are so amazing out here. I could just sit for hours just looking at them. We know for next time that we need to start a little earlier, like dusk, and have a small table out there for all of our supplies.
